If you’re planning to take part in this water sport, you might actually want to know where you can do so.
How to Reach at Cliff Site at Khanpur Dam?
Khanpur Dam has one of the best and natural cliff diving sites in Pakistan.
Usually two specific sites are used for cliff diving at Khanpur Lake. You can only reach those points via hiring a boat from main Khanpur Dam view point. You can also get life jackets from boat operator. They will give you time and you can enjoy those hours! Don’t try this in winter because the lake water will be very cold!
As a safety measure, the World High Diving Federation recommends that all dives are kept to less than 20 meters (65 feet). There should be a professional rescue team waiting for divers in the water. This way you can practice your dive and know what your body’s limits are. Diving from a cliff higher than 20 meters could result in serious injury and possibly even death.
WARNING: Please do not try this, unless you are very well prepared psychically! Lots of people hurt themselves while cliff jumping at Khanpur Dam.
Always Wear Life Jacket
Don’t forget to wear a life jacket, even if you are a professional swimmer! Khanpur Dam Life Jackets are specially designed for cliff jumping. You can get jacket from boat operator.
Don’t Go Cliff Diving Alone
Always remember to go along with your friends or family just in case something goes wrong. This way you can enjoy more.
Make Sure The Water is Deep Enough at Cliff Site
You can ask a local or a boat operator to check the depth. If the water is less than 4 meters deep, DO NOT jump! And, if there are rocks at the bottom be careful that they may appear deeper than they actually are.
Wear Water Shoes or Sandles
To avoid an injury or cutting the bottom of your feet use a pair of water shoes or sandles when cliff jumping.
Do not jump head first
Always jump feet first when cliff jumping. Unless you’re an expert, you put yourself at serious risk for injuries or death when you jump head first.
Do Not Panic
If you experience a discomfort, block your nose, take a deep breath in, and blow out while keeping your mouth closed.
Make Your Jump Memorable!
Last, but definitely not least, consider taking some classes with a trained instructor in swimming pool to cover the basics before you attempt a high jump at lake. Finally, when all the preparation and safety checks are made, there is just one thing left to do, and that is to make your jump most memorable.
Going cliff jumping is a great time to bring your friends together, they can help you prepare. It will be an extra fun adventure if you are surrounded by friends close to you. Also, ask one to take photos or better video of your dive. It will be something worth watching over and over, after the dive when you are back home.
